Description

THE APARTMENT
The entry leads to a gracious, open living room with a bank of windows facing south providing oblique views of The Hudson River and Riverside Park. Recently renovated, the large open kitchen features new appliances, eat-in granite countertop and a large window also with oblique Hudson River views. The features through-wall heating/air conditioning, restored original herringbone hardwood floors, built-in desk and shelving in the guest bedroom, as well as five California Closets. There is a washer-dryer unit, a large second bedroom that uses the full bath on the hallway, and a terrific master bedroom with bowed windows and a windowed full bath en-suite which enjoys southern light.

THE NORMANDY
Significant for it's sleek, elegant, art Moderne curved corners, the Normandy was deemed by many architects and critics as among the very best achievements of architect Emery Roth. Built in 1938 it was his last great work, as well as the last of the monumental pre-World War II apartment houses. Roth was able to combine Italian Renaissance forms with new Modern forms and like the Beresford and the San Remo, the Normandy has been designated a New York City landmark.

RIVERSIDE PARK
Riverside Park borders the Hudson River from West 72 to West 153 Street, a delightful section of the walking path that now circles the island of Manhattan. It began in 1873 and last expanded in 1910. The original design was by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, the creators of Central Park. Extending some 81 blocks for approximately 4 miles, it is a complex design of exquisitely designed greenery, in some places on several levels, with winding paths, exquisite themed playgrounds - River Park, Hippo Park - tennis courts, skateboard courses, basketball courts and gated gardens. There are two restaurants overlooking the Hudson River, as well as the 79th Street Boat Basin.
