Description
This beautifully historic one-of-a-kind 26-foot wide limestone and brick Mansion was constructed in 1900 by architect Robert D. Kohn in the Beaux Arts style. The goal was to create a little bit of Paris in New York, and the elegantly designed Mansion at 352 Riverside accomplishes that and more. Listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, the Mansions original owner was Adolphe Openhym, a wealthy silk merchant. Since then there have only been four owners, each a dedicated steward to historic preservation. Therefore, the intricate details of the original house have been very well preserved. The five story home spans just over 9,000 square feet and has nine bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three powder rooms. In addition there is a windowed finished basement that totals 1,840 square feet. There are eight fireplaces, floor-to-ceiling mahogany windows, leaded glass windows, and a baronial mahogany staircase with an original Tiffany skylight at the top. The mansion sits on a 41 foot wide lot with a south, west and east facing side court as well as a lavish sunken garden. In addition, there is a landscaped roof garden with river views. An elevator runs throughout the residence along with modern features such as wireless internet, phone and security systems. 352 Riverside runs along the scenic Riverside Park and retains some of the best views of the Hudson River in all of Manhattan.GARDEN FLOOR Upon entering the Mansion, you find yourself in an enormous corner entrance gallery fitted with beautiful wood paneling, original moldings and five picturesque windows. Adjacent, is a library with a powder room that perfectly flows into a corner windowed eat in kitchen. The Mansions main kitchen has custom cabinetry, a spacious butlers pantry and access to the garden. The decadent garden is multi-leveled with a fountain. PARLOR FLOORA grand salon leads to a corner living room with gorgeous French doors that open to two breathtaking Juliet balconies, which overlook the picturesque park. The original herringbone floors and moldings are all in exquisite condition. Perfect for large scale entertaining, there is also a formal dining room equipped with a serving kitchen and dumb waiter. THIRD FLOORThe third floor houses the Mansions one-of-a-kind corner Master bedroom suite with four windows, a closet and a windowed dressing room with four huge closets. The windowed master bathroom has two sinks and an oversized steam shower with two rain heads. Next to the Master, is a second bedroom with an en-suite windowed bathroom. FOURTH FLOOROn the fourth floor we see breathtaking river views, primarily in the corner bedroom with four huge windows, a closet and an en-suite windowed bathroom. The fourth bedroom is next to a hallway bathroom, which is en route to a library or fifth bedroom. The floor is completed by a sun-soaked glass enclosed solarium. 5TH FLOORThe 5th floor houses four more bedrooms and more stunning river views. There is also a laundry room with a washer/dryer and two hallway bathrooms. LANDSCAPED ROOF GARDENThe roof garden is perfect for large scale gatherings, equipped with an outdoor kitchen and entertaining area, which has some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the river in all of Manhattan. BASEMENTIn the basement there are two enormous office/storage rooms, a laundry room, a bathroom and a charming kitchenette.
