Boulevard Gardens, heralded as Woodside's "Model Village," won an award for architectural merit from the Queens Chamber of Commerce in 1936. Its practical design and attractive layout remains today as popular as when it welcomed its first residents on June 25, 1935.

It contains special design and landscape features which are reminiscent of those in a well-established urban park.
Mature oaks and maples, a living link to the past, reinforces the Gardens' sense of history. Buildings are set back from the sidewalk by raised grassy berms which complement the streetscape and enhance the open feeling in the neighborhood with Spectacular shade trees.
